Advertising suggests material solutions to emotional and spiritual needs. It would be fine if it were just informing people about products but it isn’t, it’s encouraging consumption as a solution to problems and even encouraging those needs and making them bigger and bigger so we always think we need more and more to feel comfortable. The beauty of the natural world is being destroyed to satisfy these short term needs, all carefully created to make us feel that we as consumers are the center of the universe. It tells us that we have choices if we have money and sings us a lullaby of stupidity.
